About IDO
Integrated Development Organization (IDO) is a local NGO. It was established in August 1993 at Raghurampur village in Keshabpur Upazila of Jessore district to uphold the rights of the poor and underprivileged. IDO was founded with the aim of creating a society free from all discrimination where everyone can enter and be aware of their fundamental rights. IDO being a people-friendly organization, diversity including poverty alleviation, livelihood opportunities, rights realization, reduction of discrimination, women’s empowerment, sexual and reproductive health rights, women’s political social and economic empowerment through feminist lens, women’s participation in decision making, rights of transgender people. IDO continues to use a rights-based approach to empower poor and ethnic minority communities across the South West region, with gradual expansion to other parts of the country. IDO has been working in remote and vulnerable districts like Jessore, Satkhira, Khulna, Bagerhat, Barisal, Pirojpur, Barguna, Patuakhali, and Cox’s Bazar for the last 30 years. IDO has focused specifically on the underprivileged women, girls, dalit/ethnic minority communities, outsiders and untouchables of the society who are victims of socio-economic hierarchies. IDO has strong credibility and values with the people and government of Bangladesh.
